COMMUNITIES WELCOMING VISITORS
TO ARTISTIC SITES
The guild was born in 1967 of a new type of experience : the idea of welcoming visitors to the Romanesque church of Brancion (Burgundy), so that they discover the Christian meaning of the monument beyond its fine architecture and iconography.
From the very start, the guides felt a need for community life while on the site.
At present, C.A.S.A. is a Christian guild of volunteers welcomes visitors to religious sites every summer.
These experiences made the guild aware
of the importance of diversity. Everyone who is prepared to share the aims
of the organisation and is interested in the Christian tradition of such
monuments is welcome to participate.
Summer activities
COMMUNAUTES : communities whose members gather near a monument in order to discover, to share and to welcome.
ACCUEIL : volunteer stewardship to visitors, especially during the summer, aiming at a free encounter between the visitor, the guide and the work of art.
SITES : Christian sites bearing witness of a history that still questions us today.
ARTISTIQUES : sites selected according to their historical, aesthetic and spiritual heritage.
WINTER activities
As stewards of the visitors and monument, C.A.S.A. members organise their winter activities in each region around history, art and religion. This training is taken care of by the members themselves as they learn together how to discover and to show the artistic heritage in their own region.
The guild lives from the subscriptions
of its members and donations.
